Short answer: prices vary widely between providers. A one‑page site and a campaign landing page sit at the low end, a corporate website of up to 7 pages costs noticeably more, and an online store starts higher still and grows with every product and integration. These are build costs only. Domain, hosting and copy are usually billed separately.
Website pricing: table
| Website type | Market (typical position) | Proofsite |
|---|---|---|
| Business card / one page | lowest tier of the market | landing page C$239 |
| Landing page for a campaign | low tier of the market | C$239, 1‑2 business days |
| Corporate website (5‑7 pages) | mid tier, with a wide spread between providers | C$479, about 4 business days |
| Online store | highest tier, grows with products and integrations | C$3,399 for up to 50 products, about 6 business days |
The market column is qualitative: prices differ a lot between providers, so we do not quote averages. Our prices are in the right column.
Why does the same website cost so different amounts
The biggest factor is the graphic design. A custom graphic design is usually priced separately. If the provider starts from a proven layout and adapts it to the brand, this cost largely disappears.
Other factors include:
- number of pages and who writes the copy;
- features: bookings, payments, multilingual, integration with CRM or invoicing software;
- provider’s city: providers in large cities usually charge more than those in smaller towns;
- timeline: the sooner, the more expensive, unless the provider has ready components and doesn’t start from scratch.
What’s not included in the website price
When comparing offers, check what is added after launch. Typical items to check:
| Item | Market price |
|---|---|
| Domain .com | registration is often cheap in year 1, renewal costs more |
| Shared hosting | annual fee |
| SSL certificate | free or an annual fee |
| Technical care for WordPress | recurring annual or monthly fee |
The first year is often cheap because registrars offer a domain promotion. The bill appears only at renewal.
Cheap website: what to watch out for
Cheap sites exist and sometimes are enough. Before you pay, ask the provider five questions:
- Who will the domain be registered to? It should be in your name or your business.
- Will I receive the code or full access to the control panel after payment?
- What does hosting and domain cost from the second year?
- Is the site built on a builder that can’t be moved?
- Who makes changes after handover and for how much?
If the answer to question 4 is “yes”, compare the builder’s subscription with the cost of your own site over several years.
How much a site costs at Proofsite
| Package | Price | Due date | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing page | C$239 | 1‑2 business days | one page: offer, pricing, FAQ, form |
| Corporate website | C$479 | approx. 4 business days | 5‑7 subpages, CMS for self‑editing, blog |
| Online store | C$3,399 | approx. 6 business days | up to 50 products, cart, orders, Stripe/PayPal payments |
In every package, hosting, domain, SSL and Cloudflare are free for the first year. From the second year hosting is billed monthly (see the pricing page), and with the Business or Store care package it’s included in the care price. Custom graphic design for your brand is an extra optional expense, “SEO starter” is an additional service.
How do we keep prices down? We start from ready‑made styles from the Design gallery and use our own automation tools. Before you pay, you can view the finished site on our test address. You pay after approval, and within 30 days of launch you can get a refund (terms in the terms).
Common mistakes when ordering a site
- Comparing only the build price without second‑ and third‑year costs.
- Domain registered to the provider. It’s hard to recover after parting ways.
- No copy. Site ready in a week then waits a month for content from the client.
- Paying the full amount upfront before you see even a draft version.
- Contact form that no one tested after launch.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a simple website cost?
A simple one‑page website sits at the low end of the market. At Proofsite a landing page costs C$239 and is ready in 1‑2 business days, with hosting, domain and SSL for the first year.
How much does setting up a website and maintaining it for a year cost?
On the market: a corporate website costs noticeably more than a one‑pager, plus annual hosting and domain renewal. With us a corporate website costs C$479, and hosting, domain and SSL for the first year are included.
Can you get a website for free?
Yes, with free plans from website builders, but usually on the builder’s subdomain and with its ads. For a business that wants its own domain and full control, it’s a trial solution, not a long‑term one.
Why do website prices vary by city?
Providers in large cities have higher costs. Providers in large cities usually charge more than those in smaller towns. You can still order remotely from a provider in another city.
Is the price at Proofsite final?
Package prices are fixed for the described scope. If you need more pages, integrations or language versions, we provide the amount in a free quote before any payment.
